I can tell strait away if a drummer use a metronome or not because he or she speeds up and slow down, a drummer who practice to a click is more of a solid player. All the good drummers I know practice about 30 mins to 1 hour a day practicing to a click.

Not every drummer has to play to a click, yes a click does help keep with the timing of your drumming. However it doesn't mean you absolutely MUST record with one. In fact Lars Ulrich from Metallica doesn't always use a click when he drums (just an example) and he is renowned as one of the best out there. (that's of course an opinion though). I personally don't like the click as much, I hold the beat on my own. After all it is physically possible lol.

All drummers use a metronome and practice to a click, I dont give a fuck how good you are, every drummer use a metronome, if you dont, your fucking shit, and cant keep time.
If your a drummer and you go to a studio you play to a click, because it's professional to do so. And Travis Barker is a professional drummer. And thats why hes worth millions and your not, because hes not up his ass like most drummers. |
