I don't get it. If those who are killed at the hotel becomes spirits there as well, and those already present don't like "niggers", then they will be stuck with one of them after Jack kills Hallorann.

Philip Stone. I only "wiki'd" him to remind myself of his name. But I know Kubrick used him as "Dad" in A Clockwork Orange and in Barry Lyndon! All great flicks by the best in the biz! IMO
