saying any instrument is an anomaly in any style of music is ridiculous.

yes hes "shredding: but hes staying in key. you guys wouldnt be critising it if the front man was a violinist playing the same notes as Yngwie would you?

well the crescendo and decrescendo in the beginning and end flow very well with the guitar
and its not just mindless shredding
he has melodical value so to me i think it works
composers have always been using unconventional instruments in classical

if you are actually talking about technical skill vs musical knowledge, MAB is probably the best zigilwantsu

best orchestra woking with a guitar since S&M

dude some people like classical music on the electric, hints the genre neo-classical.

You folks are so obsessed by his technique that you don't feel the big picture. This music is obnoxious. The sound of electric guitar in a classical setting is anomaly. malmsteen is great technical player (not like MAB who a complete retard), but it does not mean good music. Check out Aunt Suzie, Whitewash by Buckethead to hear good music. Or listen to Paco de Lucia for technical and beautiful songs.

I wont try to change your mind because you are obviously a MAB fan and i'm not and we will start an endless comment war that is pointless and useless for you and me like that Megadeth vs. Metallica bullshit. I will say however that i like Hands Without Shadows and his Tribute to Randy. I just think he does too much legatto and makes you forgett the rythm parts of the songs he plays. They even sound as two different songs. He's an awesome player i love his technique.

BUCKETHEAD? You're citing musician's with soul and you choose BUCKETHEAD? I mean, he does at times - but a lot of it is just crappy FX that sounds somewhat interesting (for a minute).
I feel like you're not giving Yngwie enough credit - going into this song (and a lot of others) he has tons of feeling. Every note means something to him, and each one builds on those before it.
Yes, there is some shredding there too, but by and large it's with just as much feeling as any other. I'll say Slash. |
